Cineridos, my most authentic project so far. This work was born during the pandemic, like so many other cultural and artistic projects. At that time, (and also now), I felt the need to create an editorial project but this time mine, very mine, and that would deal with my great filia: the cinema. I wanted to make something artistic that would frame what cinema exerts in our lives, a kind of cinematographic compendium through the years of cinema history. I wanted to «freeze» those moments, through my illustrations. That is why I met with the author of the written word of this book, a wonderful poet, to present him with the project I had in mind and get down to work. From that moment, we agreed that the editorial project would include a careful selection of 31 films where we would dedicate a poetic prose and an illustration to each one of them. In this way, we would create Cineridos, or a book for those wounded by cinema.

That’s how I started working on the illustrations, all under digital technique. I wanted to frame and represent different scenes that integrate the different magical moments of each film, almost making a poster for each one of them. I say this because the scenes and representations are reminiscent of that classic poster from the 80s, where all the characters were brought together under the same sequence, creating a dreamlike, emotional and evocative framework, because such is the inspiration that this cinematographic poster exerts on me. In addition, a great phrase frames the entire scenario of illustration and poetry, so the design and layout create a perfect environment.

Finally, when we published with the publisher Platero Cool Books, in a book measuring 29 x 21 cm. (cinema screen format), the tour has not ceased, reaching all media and marking the emotional life and nostalgia of the reader, which were my main objectives from the beginning: to scratch those little hidden feelings when remembering a scene or a movie, the one that marks us deep inside, and pay him a unique tribute and homage that has never been seen before.

Cineridos, mi proyecto más auténtico hasta ahora. Esta obra nació durante la pandemia, como tantos otros proyectos culturales y artísticos. Por aquella época, (y también ahora), sentía la necesidad de crear un proyecto editorial pero esta vez mío, muy mío, y que versara sobre mi gran filia: el cine. Quería realizar algo artístico que enmarcara lo que el cine ejerce en nuestras vidas, una especie de compendio cinematográfico a través de los años de la historia del cine. Quería «congelar» esos momentos, a través de mis ilustraciones. Por ello me reuní con el autor de la palabra escrita de este libro, maravilloso poeta, para presentarle el proyecto que tenía en mente y ponernos manos a la obra. Desde ese momento, acordamos que el proyecto editorial recogería una cuidada selección de 31 películas donde a cada una de ellas le dedicaríamos una prosa poética y una ilustración. De este modo, crearíamos Cineridos, o un libro para los heridos por el cine. 

Fue así como comencé a trabajar en las ilustraciones, todas bajo técnica digital. Quería enmarcar y representar diferentes escenas que integraran los diferentes momentos mágicos de cada película, casi realizando un cartel por cada una de ellas. Digo esto porque las escenas y representaciones recuerdan a esa cartelería clásica de los años 80, donde todos los personajes se reunían bajo una misma secuencia, creando un marco onírico, emocional y evocador, pues tal es la inspiración que esta cartelería cinematográfica ejerce en mí. Además, una gran frase encuadra todo el escenario de ilustración y poesía, por lo que el diseño y la maquetación crea un entorno perfecto.

Finalmente, cuando publicamos con la editorial Platero Cool Books, en un libro de medida 29 x 21 cm. (formato pantalla de cine), el recorrido no ha dejado de cesar, llegando a todos los medios y marcando la vida emocional y la nostalgia del lector, los cuales fueron desde el principio mis principales objetivos: arañar esos pequeños sentimientos escondidos al recordar una escena o una película, esa que nos marca muy adentro, y rendirle un tributo y homenaje único y hasta ahora nunca visto.
